Crustaceans
Shrimp (Family Penaeidae) are an economically important aquaculture species worldwide. Kennebec River Biosciences is approved by the USDA to test for 6 of the major pathogens affecting shrimp species including:
  • Taura Syndrome Virus (TSV)
  • Yellow Head Virus (YHV)
  • White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV)
  • Infectious Hypodermal Hematopoietic Necrosis Virus (IHHNV)

Lobster (Homarus americanus) is a major fishery in New England and the Atlantic Provinces of Canada. Several issues, including pound shrinkage and shell disease, continue to affect these animals. Kennebec River Biosciences has partnered with fishermen and regulators to conduct applied research and continues to engage the industry to provide better insight into these issues.
